Abstract

The formation of the incision valley near Selizharovo is associated with the existence of a proglacial lake in the Late Valdai. Geological and hypsometric data indicate its possible level is not lower than 205 m and not higher than 210 m asl. However, at this level of the lake, a incision would not be possible, since the edges of the valley are located at an altitude of 215 – 220 m asl. We assume that the depression at Selizharovo already existed by the beginning of the Late Valdai, and then it deepened and was renewed.
