Abstract

The Volga River is one of the largest rivers in Russia, which plays an important role in the life of many plants, animals and humans. Annual research of the river microbiota is an integral part of the work to preserve the river ecosystem and ensure its sustainable development. The work analysed the composition of the microbiota using high-throughput sequencing methods, as well as physicochemical indicators over a three-year period from 2017 to 2019. A stable microbiota community and changes in chemical oxygen consumption and microbial diversity of the Volga River community were revealed.
